Beango Cube Xpro Privacy Policy
Scope: This policy applies only to the "BeanGo Cube Xpro" mobile application. For how our website www.beangocube.com handles data, see the Website Privacy Policy.
1. Overview
This app operates without any server or backend owned by us, and uses no advertising, analytics, or behavioral tracking SDKs (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or Crashlytics).
Your roast curves, bean records, cupping notes, and app settings are stored on your device only by default. Apart from the cases explicitly listed in Section 2, no data leaves your device. Uninstalling the app removes the local data with it.
2. Data That Leaves Your Device
The following three categories may leave your device. All three are optional features: if you do not enable them, none of this occurs, and core roasting control is unaffected.
2.1 Location (Precise and Approximate)
- When collected: A single reading is taken only when the "local weather" feature is used and location permission is granted. The app never accesses location in the background.
- Purpose: To pre-fill ambient temperature and humidity in the roast record.
- Who receives it:
- The reverse-geocoding service used to determine country/region (Google Mobile Services on Android; Apple on iOS);
- United States: the National Weather Service (api.weather.gov);
- On iOS, if the above sources return no data: Apple WeatherKit.
- In Taiwan, the app queries the Central Weather Administration open data platform for public station observations only and does not send coordinates to that platform; the nearest station is computed on the device.
- Retention: Weather results and the coordinates used are cached on the device to avoid repeated lookups. Nothing is uploaded to the developer or to any third party. The location is neither received nor stored by the developer.
- How to stop it: Revoke the app's location permission in system settings or do not use the feature.
2.2 Roast Data Backup Files (Files and Documents)
- When sent: Only when cloud backup is actively enabled.
- Contents: Roast curves, bean records, and notes, packaged as a single archive file.
- Where it goes: The user’s own cloud account — Google Drive on Android, iCloud on iOS. The developer has no access to this file.
- Scope: On Android the app requests only the `drive.file` scope, so it can access only files it created and cannot read anything else in Google Drive.
- Deletion: The backup file can be deleted at any time directly in Google Drive or iCloud, or by disabling cloud backup in the app.
2.3 Google Account Identifier (Email Address)
- When obtained: Only when cloud backup is enabled on Android and authorization is granted via Google Sign-In.
- Purpose: To obtain authorization from Google to access the user’s personal Google Drive. The app offers no registration and creates no account with the developer.
- Handling: The account identifier is held in device memory only for the duration of the session. No server is operated, and this information is not stored, logged, or transmitted to any third party.
3. Sharing You Initiate
The app offers the following user-initiated sharing actions. When you tap them, the data is handed to a destination app or recipient of your own choosing; we are not involved in the transfer and keep no copy:
- AI coach sharing: Formats a roast record as text for you to share with an AI assistant app of your choice. Subsequent handling is governed by that app provider's privacy policy.
- Problem reporting: Packages local diagnostic logs into an archive for you to share or email to us. It contains app operation logs and roaster status only, for technical support purposes.
- Profile export: Shares roast curve files to a destination you specify.
All of these require your explicit confirmation each time and never run automatically.
4. Communication With the Roaster
The app communicates directly with the BeanGo Cube roaster over your local network (device discovery plus HTTP/WebSocket control commands). This includes a device identifier so the roaster can recognize the connection. These communications stay within your local network; they do not traverse the internet and are never sent to us or to any third party.
5. Data Security
All communications that leave the device (weather lookups, cloud backup) use HTTPS encryption. Local network communication with the roaster is protected by your own network environment.
6. Children's Privacy
This app is a control tool for coffee roasting equipment. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
7. Your Rights
Because we hold none of your data, you remain in full control:
- Local data: Removed when you uninstall the app.
- Cloud backup: Delete it yourself in Google Drive or iCloud.
- Location permission: Revoke it at any time in system settings.

8. Changes to This Policy
Any revisions will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will additionally notify you within the app.
